Many of us are intrigued by this question mainly for two reasons. Either you already have a website on Wix and are looking to rank for your keywords, but you have heard crap stories about Wix. Or you Have little technical skills and are looking to use Wix as an option for your CMS. Here we will go over what trying to rank with a Wix website looks like, what you should do, and why many people seem to hate it.
The Public Has Some Strong Wix Reviews.
To gather data, we had to take the question to the polls and get out in the public to see what lovely opinions people had about using Wix to rank.
One user, John Lee said it was “simple, switch to WordPress plus Elementor.”
Another user agreed by saying “the best way to optimize Wix is to get out of there ASAP and follow the advice of John Lee!”
But why is that? What is so negative about Wix?
Some may argue that using Wix can be an affordable option
Wix SEO vs WordPress SEO
Compare it to WordPress, where creating a website costs you virtually nothing. That is if you use free plugins and free WordPress templates. The only costs to owning a WordPress would be hosting and domain which combined could cost upfront of $80 to $200 dollars per year, depending on which hosting company you choose.
Wix SEO Price
Let’s see what people think about wix being affordable.
One user stated that it was not free at all. Wix prices range from $13 to $500 per month (billed annually) across eight pricing plans. The Combo plan is the cheapest at $14 per month and gives you an ad-free site. The $18 per month Unlimited plan is best for freelancers, while online sellers can start with the $23 per month Business Basic plan.
So Can You Rank With Wix On Google?
There are those who feel Wix is definitely useless to use. However, nothing is impossible. A couple thinks that with enough hard work, one can rank on Google with a Wix website.
Wix is shit for SEO but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done. You can rank in niches that have mediocre competition pretty easily. Just follow their guidelines on technical SEO, write good and optimized content and start link building. I recently got a client who just got their page rebuilt on Wix by some agency and there was no way they would spend more money to get on WordPress. So we did what we could and ranked.
Another user gave us some good pointers on how to do SEO on Wix and even do wix advanced SEO.
Don’t be tempted to buy any of their extras. If you can make a WiX site, you can get the hang of WordPress and have unlimited options for improving every area of SEO and the good plugins teach you a lot because they can provide real-time feedback if your headings suck, you forgot alt text on images, designed it poorly, etc. Also, you can control the speed of your site (lots of SEO brownie points) by using the right hosting, theme, etc. Also, there’s are really cheap or free and much more. Here’s an example of a site I made in about 10 minutes. This theme had demo data so that made it quick but the 10 minutes includes setting up a new google cloud account, writing new home page content, updating and creating a widget, and a few other things. Also, for performance, this has not been optimized at all, no caching, and still loads pretty quick for being almost all images lol https://lawnpro.care In any case, don’t be afraid that your’e not going to be able to do it. Plenty of resources and good designers out there.
Can You Climb The SERPS Ladder with Wix?
To conclude, yes, but it will surely take more time and effort. If you want to compete in a local niche where the competition is virtually not there, then by all means use Wix especially if you are a beginner and have little to no experience using a CMS. However, to rank in higher competition locations and niches, or on a national level, WordPress is the way to go as it offers a variety of plugins and resources one can use to climb the ranks.
